In 2022, there were no mature solutions for trading Steam balances on the market: while gift cards offered discounts of around 30%, delivery times were unpredictable; P2P gift trading carried high risks and offered limited discounts. In contrast, "Hangdao" transactions were fast and secure, but information was highly time-sensitive. At the time, most players relied on community posts or daily price reports from official accounts, which involved cumbersome processes and often resulted in actual discount rates falling short of expectations.
In February 2022, the Listing Price Comparison Site was launched on the Keylol community, becoming the first website to publicly offer real-time, multi-platform comparison of listing prices. Through long-term engineering and algorithmic optimization, we achieved minute-by-minute updates for over 60,000 items across six platforms on a limited budget, serving a vast number of Steam players.For example, on June 8, 2024 (the day pre-orders for Black Myth: Wukong opened), the site recorded 248,000 daily page views (PV) and 25,000 unique visitors (UV). Additionally, we provide support for data analysis needs and other applications within the Steam Marketplace ecosystem through data APIs, ID mapping tables, and other means.
Over the past five years, we have been pleased to see features such as “listing ratio calculation” and “item listing recommendations” gradually adopted by trading platforms (such as BUFF) and third-party data platforms, making players’ access to information more diverse and transparent.However, with Valve introducing a 7-day trading cooldown for CS2 and Dota 2 items in 2024 and 2025, respectively, sellers must now bear the risk of price fluctuations for longer periods, and the site’s original advantages are no longer as significant.
